What I Like About Suse, she hold me tight

I just finished a quick screen by screen tutorial showing how to install Suse 10. It is the first in a series of tutorials I will write for setting up a test and development environment for mono to help ASP.NET developers coming from a Windows background get setup for working with mono on linux.

I must say unless you have exotic hardware, its so easy to install you almost don't need a tutorial and the latest version simply rocks with all the nice features like Beagle Desktop search and f-spot photo management. If you notice any errors in the article or points I have missed that would be helpful, let me know and I'll update the article.

The next article in the series will walk through building mono (at least the parts needed for ASP.NET) from source code retrieved directly from the Subversion repository. The 3rd and final installment will walk through setting up mojoPortal using mod_mono and apache2 including how to configure Virtual Hosts.

Joe, as a Windows, Visual Studio and asp.net developer looking to get into the Linux space, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be following your tutorial using VMware - I'll keep you posted John

Thanks John!

I'll try to get the other articles out soon, probably this weekend.

Several of my friends have commented on the title of this post and how I really ought to get out more.

While that is perfectly true I'm surprised that no-one detected the reference to the song by The Romantics, What I Like About You, circa about 1983

I guess I really am getting old!
