The Perfect Pint of Guinness is only 14.9 OZ.

I finally figured out where Guinness got their "Brilliant" Ad campaign. Its what they said to the accountant who told them how much they could boost their earnings by cutting the size of their cans from a Pint (16OZ) to 14.9 OZ. I think they did this about the time they introduced their new bottle version which is not even 12 OZ like other bottled beer but 11.2 OZ and is not as good tasting as the cans.

They forgot one thing though, the back of the can still tells you how to "Experience the Perfect Pint of Guinness"

I wonder if Allan Greenspan knows about this hidden inflation.

The problem with a "Brilliant" idea like that is you can't do it again next year and some of us fans of the Irish Stout will switch to Murphy's which is just as good, costs less, and comes in a Pint!

Of course it was a fun weekend researching this important economic indicator!

Maybe they are subtracting for the "widget"?

Man! 20 OZ Pints would be great! But more than I could hope for over here in TN, USA. I'd be happy if I could get a 16 OZ US Pint

As for the widget I'm sure they could try and justify it taking up a little space but I know a few years ago they were 16 OZ not counting the widget. Murphy's has a widget too and you still get 16 OZ

You are wrong on 16 oz as a pint, 20 oz is the acutal pint size. In America bars are ripping off Americans calling 16 oz a pint, it is has always 20 oz. The are laws in the United States that call 20 oz as a pint, it is just the bars that amke it 16 oz to profit more, so you can buy two and tip another 12% tip.

Allover Western/Eastern Europe 20 oz is the standard glass, same with Canada, China, Brazil, Austrilla, Russia and etc.

You should travel over to Europe and see the how many countries serve 20 oz. Get a cheap ticket here http://www.anyfares.com and travel the world to see how many countries serve in 20 oz pint glasses vs. cheap American 16 oz glasses and make a comment what is the international standard.
